Harvey Weinstein pleads not guilty

Harvey Weinstein, charged with three counts of sexual assault/misconduct, has pleaded not guilty, Variety reports.

Officially, Weinstein is charged by two women with first and third degree rape and a criminal sexual act.

Weinstein turned himself in to authorities in New York City on May 25, where he was arraigned and released on $1 million bail with a location tracker. If convicted, he could face up to 25 years in prison.

While one of the woman charging Weinstein has remained anonymous, the other is Lucia Evans, who alleges she refused to perform oral sex on the former producer in 2004 but says he overpowered and forced her.

Since October 2017, dozens of women including prominent actresses Salma Hayek, Gwyneth Paltrow, Mira Sorvino and more have accused Weinstein of varying degrees of sexual assault and misconduct. It was the first of many falls from grace in Hollywood as the #MeToo movement began, spread, and continues to grow.
