Ugh: James Comey made the one April Fools' Day joke no one in America needed

James Comey refuses to let the American people rest.

It's April Fools' Day, and the former FBI director who learned he'd been fired by Donald Trump when he heard about it on TV, just pulled the most extremely unnecessary, wildly unfunny prank. He announced a fake presidential run.

Comey shared a photo of himself standing in the middle of an empty road on social media, alongside the words "I'm in. We need someone in the middle. #2020." And reader, when I received the notification on my phone, I literally screamed.

Comey did not — under any circumstance — have to hit the send button after composing this tweet. Yet, he made the conscious decision to do so knowing how truly and completely exhausted the American people are with politics.

For that? Well, we all have the right to scream into the online void.

Comey, dude. We're going to need to you be a littleless extra. And while you're at it, stop posing for pictures in the middle of the damn street. It's dangerous.

Goodnight, America. Wake me up when April Fools' Day ends.
